ARCHITECTURAL SKETCHING WITH COMPUTER GRAPHICS

Introduction
In this chapter the general subject of computer aided design is discussed with
particular emphasis on its application to architecture. The way people currently
use CAD is explained from interviews conducted with professionals in areas where
computer aided design is presumed to be used and the details of an ethnographic

study into one of these areas is documented. A selection of current architectural
design programs are reviewed along with computer based survey tools and several
relevant sketching packages. A usability test is then conducted on a selection of
these programs to assess their suitability to rapid prototyping.
